This week saw the completion of Phase 1 of the works at Lepe Country Park, providing a new Visitors’ Centre and Cafe.
The new structure has been built on a platform raised on concrete columns set into the beach, protecting against possible flood risk and future-proofing against climate change and rising sea levels. This raised platform and extensively glazed front elevation offer stunning Solent views, and the larch cladding to the exterior ensures that the building blends sympathetically with the pine-fringed cliffs surrounding it.
Throughout construction our dedicated Site Manager achieved ‘Performance Beyond Compliance’ standard within the Considerate Constructors Scheme, and we were able to deliver the new cafe and visitors’ centre in time for an Early May bank holiday opening.
Phase 2 of the works now starting will see the partial demolition of the old cafe, (together with the safe removal of asbestos), and the refurbishment of the toilet block, and is set for completion this July.
