WSL will shortly be starting on this exciting project in Shoreham.
The brief is for the construction of a brand new clubhouse, at the same time facilitating Adur District Council's completion of flood defence works and coastal cycle path. This project is the result of lengthy collaboration between Adur DC, the Environment Agency and the Sussex Yacht Club to ensure the very highest quality result for all parties and the residents of town.
Specialist works include the infilling of an existing slipway and the construction of a 1.4m high plinth to raise the new building above tidal surges. The building itself will be two-storey with a double-pitched standing seam roof and will feature a fully-glazed south-facing elevation opening from the social spaces onto an extensive wraparound balcony. External works will include the provision of a 53-space car park, and landscaping featuring flint-filled gabions and native coastal planting. The building has been designed to reflect and complement both the maritime history and local architecture of it's surroundings and will make a significant contribution to the regeneration of the Shoreham Harbour area.
