Church House, in the Tarring conservation area, is a block of 19 studio flats and a house constructed in 1966. Fifty years on, the accommodation falls short of modern standards with under-equipped kitchens and shared bath/shower facilities. A significant list of repairs is now also required and Worthing Homes have therefore elected to demolish the original building and redevelop the site. The new development will provide 15 units of social housing capable of accommodating 45 residents.
The new designs will incorporate double-pitched roofs and bay and box windows, reflecting details of established buildings in the area. An existing Victorian stable block, partial flint walling and many mature trees will be retained to ensure a development sympathetic with its conservation area surroundings.
