Procured together with Chichester-based architect HNW, via a design competition held by West Sussex County Council, this project was for the design and build of a new three-storey Arts, Drama and Teaching building, and the refurbishment the school cafeteria. W Stirland was responsible for developing and completing the detailed design from Stage B during the pre-construction period, including undertaking all necessary site surveys.
The project entailed the construction of ten new general teaching classrooms, the refurbishment and conversion of two existing classrooms into IT suites, one drama space, one new multi-purpose changing room, two music classrooms and six music practice rooms. The works also included the upgrade of the existing school hall, two group/SEN classrooms and six office spaces and the refurbishment of the design technology workshop, food technology rooms, toilets and storage areas.
