Downland Housing Association appointed W Stirland with the design and construction of four new flats.
The project was constructed using the company’s off-site manufacturing partner Streif GmbH.
Architect: W. Stirland Limited
Engineer: Archibald Shaw
Client Agent: Calford Seaden
The contract period from commencement to completion was fourteen weeks with the building being erected complete with windows, doors, roofing felt and batten and timber cladding in four days. This was the first time the system has been used in the UK.
It provides a highly sustainable and fast construction system with robustness that far exceeds that of other off-site solutions.
When completed the building achieved an air permeability test of 2.5 m3/hr.m2 and sound test results of 12db over the requirements for airborne sound and 12db under the requirements for impact sound.
