Project Brief

One of seven projects we were working on under the West Sussex County Council Construction & Property Framework. This was a two stage design & build project and we were appointed to extend and adapt the school to create a 9FE Secondary School.

This has provided a new pupil entrance and an enlarged school able to accommodate 1350 girls aged from 11 to 16. The new three-storey block is linked to the existing school by a new corridor that forms an access to the new dining hall.

Architect: Re-Format
Engineer: Archibald Shaw
Client Agent: Grant Associates

Project Description

The scope included a large three-storey extension providing nine general teaching classrooms, ICT Room, science lab and prep room, music room and art room. Non-teaching accommodation includes SEN facilities, three music practice rooms, a new dining hall, offices and a staff room.

Elevations are of brick and render with aluminium windows and doors.

Extensive external works included hard and soft landscaping and an extended car-park. All the works took place on a busy school campus with the new three-storey extension built at the heart of the school.

The new buildings were officially opened on the 1st December 2015 by Canon Dr Ann Holt OBE.
