Lepe Country Park Exbury, Southampton
Lepe Country Park is a 52 hectare site attracting up to 400,000 visitors a year. In 2016 improvement works, including a the construction of a new visitor centre, cafe and staff accommodation, were approved by the New Forest National Park Authority. A programme of enabling works was undertaken, with the bulk of the main building works being completed between May 2017 and May 2018.
The new glass-fronted and timber-clad structure has been built on a platform raised on concrete columns set into the beach.
The elevated position offers panoramic Solent views and also future-proofs the building against rising sea levels or tidal storm surges. The exterior of the building is clad in larch which weathers well and ensures that the building sits sympathetically within this very special landscape.
Throughout construction, our dedicated Site Manager achieved 'Performance Beyond Compliance Standard' within the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
