The construction of a three-storey, detached block of 1,500SqM and the alteration and refurbishment of existing school buildings in St Mary's Road, Portsmouth. The new block provides a drama studio, music classrooms, music practice rooms, art rooms and humanities classrooms. Classrooms in the existing school have been re-purposed to provide new science labs, food technology lab, classrooms and student support suite. These works provide a further 290 student places overall.
The new building is of steel-framed construction, with elevations of red brick over blockwork, and featuring saw-tooth brickwork to the ground floor level. Floors are of pre-cast concrete slab construction. Windows and doors are timber and aluminium composite. Construction will be to BREEAM "Excellent" standard with sustainability performance in the top 10% of new non-domestic buildings.
