Seaford College Halls of Residence Petworth, West Sussex
Seaford College is an independent, co-educational school in West Sussex and this is the third project we have completed for them.
The works entailed the construction of a new 80-bed student hall of residence, six staff flats, offices and associated external works within an existing school campus.
The new boarding house is sited within an Elizabethan walled garden which itself stands in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Grade II Listed ancient parkland.

Seaford College appointed us to obtain planning permission, provide cost planning services and design and construct the new buildings. This was part of a wider-ranging appointment, the scope of which included the master planning of the school campus and obtaining planning permission for a number of residential units that were offered for sale to provide additional funding for a range of future capital projects.
We put forward the use of our own Streif ‘off-site’ timber frame system whereby the speed of construction enabled the school to occupy the buildings some 18 weeks earlier than if a more traditional masonry solution had been used. The system also fulfilled the college criteria for a robust and sustainable method of construction.
The company has a partnering arrangement with Streif UK, (a subsidiary of Streif GmbH). Together we have tailored the German system to meet the requirements of UK Building Regulations and construction methods. As a partnership we are able to provide bespoke off-site solutions across the education, commercial and residential sectors.
