Station Road, Church View Godalming, Surrey
Working with Waverley Borough Council we have constructed 14 new council homes on the site of the former car park at Church View, Station Road, Godalming. These new affordable homes have been made available to rent for local people with Thames Valley Housing Association acting as development agents.
Architect: Churchill Hui
Engineer: Gary Gabriel
Client Agent: Churchill Hui
The development consists of six houses, two maisonettes and six flats, together with two garages and associated external works.
The two and three storey buildings are constructed in a traditional style with red/brown heritage plain roof tiles to the pitched roofs and a mixture of elevation treatments including brickwork, black timber cladding and render. The ‘all bar’ casement windows are complimented by round windows to match existing buildings in the vicinity.
There are extensive external works and hard and soft landscaping. Brick built planters feature throughout together with built-in seating, black iron railings and discreet bin stores.
One of the properties has been adapted and is fully accessible for wheelchair users, with ramps, wider internal and external doors, a fully accessible bathroom and other adaptations.
