The Printworks Chichester, West Sussex
W Stirland Limited was responsible for the detailed design and construction of four timber-framed, three and four bedroom town houses within a gated community, that are unique to the character of the Chichester Conservation Area.
‘The Print Works’ takes its name from the site’s former use as a long-established printing company for over 100 years.
Architect: Ivon Blumer Architects
Engineer: Tully De’Ath
Client Agent: Grants Associates (Chichester)
The three-storey town houses were designed and built to be highly energy-efficient. Very careful selection of materials was necessary to enhance the sensitive location and provide sustainable and highly efficient homes.
The tight city centre site provided a number of challenges both for construction and for the delivery of materials, with the only access being through a narrow courtyard.
The third floor of each house features a stunning south facing roof terrace accessed through frameless glass bi-folding doors and with extensive views over the surrounding conservation area..
