UoC Multi Purpose Centre Chichester, West Sussex
The University of Chichester appointed W Stirland with the construction of a new multi- purpose centre incorporating offices, bar and social area. The building was located adjacent to a hall of residence and access to the site was through the university campus, requiring careful traffic management and strict delivery timings.
The project was procured by competitive tender and was completed on time.
Architect: HNW Architects
Engineer: Archibald Shaw
Client Agent: RFL
The building provides the University's Student Union with their own offices and a function facility.
Whilst modest in size, the buildings mechanical and ventilation design was highly complex. Designed to be used as a nightclub, the building has a ventilation system capable of moving huge volumes of air in a short period of time. The challenge was to find locations within the building where the plant and equipment could be installed.
With its cedar cladding and radial roof this modern building give the students a fantastic facility in which to gather.
